Detroit Diesel™ 4-53 Running Core & Used Short Block Combo

This is a package deal including a complete running engine with a cracked block and some other minor issues (see below), and a used short block that rotates 360° and seems to free of any holes, cracks, or welds. Both are Model No.: 5043-7001, and Block C/N: 5125424. With the pair, you should be able to swap some parts around and end up with a good running used engine.

• From the Flywheel: Right hand rotation. Blower on the left. Starter, Exhaust Manifold, Governor, & Oil Filter Base on the right.
• Fan detacted but included.

Tech Notes: Test ran on 9-10-2024. Engine started right up with little to no smoke. Throttle was a little sluggish. Possible slight noise on right-front, may be cylinder #2 or #3. Noticed engine oil coming out of the side of the block on right-lower corner of block. Found three (3) cracks in the block in that area. Also had a lot of engine oil coming out of the back left side of the air box.

Tech Notes: Short block rotates 360° under normal pressure and without any sticking or noises.
